Eleanor X. Gomes, 93 of Kihei, passed away on December 12, 2017 at Hale Makua, Kahului. She was born on August 31, 1924 in Puunene, Maui.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Theresa Church in Kihei, mass will begin at 11 a.m. A committal service for both Eleanor and her late husband, Valentine E. Gomes will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Maui Veteran’s Cemetery.
Eleanor was a grade school teacher at Kahului Elementary School. She also worked at the Puunene Credit Union, and was a clerk typist for the U.S. Navy in Kahului. She volunteered at St. Theresa Church and played piano for the church choir.
She is survived by her son, James “Kimo” (Roswitha) Gomes, brother, Joseph (Nola) Xavier; two nieces, Marie and Julie; and 5 grandnieces and nephews.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Valentine E. Gomes; and son, Keith Arnold Gomes.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Hale Makua – Kahului, and to the staff of Hospice Maui.
