"Manuel Matheus de Souza, born in Capellas, S. Miguel; son of Antonio Matheus de Souza and Jacintha Augusta de Souza, widower of Maria da Estrella Silva, born in Hanamaulu, daughter of Antonio da Silva and Maria Rosa Silva, from Madeira; now married to Izabel da Silva, born in Hanamaulu. Lived in Hawaii for years, moved to Koloa, Kauai where he lived for twenty-four years. Now a resident of Makaweli and works for the Plantation Store. Has seven children: Anna, Anthony, Manuel, Elizabeth, Olivia, Virginia and Henry. The son Manuel belongs to the Santo Antonio Society."
